Tree lantern--Light up BeiJing world garden lantern show 2023

Tree lanterns are an essential component of Chinese garden lanterns. However garden lantern cover a wide range of styles including animal lanterns, insect lanterns, plant lanterns, and other common outdoor decorative lanterns. With their inherent natural attributes, garden lanterns are often integrated with themes of rare flora and fauna conservation, environmental protection, and science education, making them the preferred choice for lantern festivals in botanical gardens, zoos, and outdoor parks worldwide.

Tree lanterns are an important part of Chinese lanterns. In the summer vacation of 2023, we held a large light show and other activities in the Beijing World Flower Garden located in the Third Ring Road of the Chinese capital. For an expo park that focuses on the day, the popularity of the night needs to be emphasized! The purpose of this event is to cater to the students in Beijing, China to learn about nature!

During festivals, we hold large-scale lantern shows and other activities. We need to emphasize the popularity of the exhibition garden at night even more, especially since it focuses on daytime.

Popular science education is the mission of Chinese garden lantern

Since our theme is science popularization, the goal is very clear – to emphasize both education and entertainment. The organizers and FOREST PAINTING LANTERN have extensively communicated and planned a set of plant-themed Chinese lantern designs in conjunction with various unique plants in the Expo Park. We have scheduled the event for the summer of 2023, aiming to cater to students in Beijing, China and popularize knowledge about nature.

We also suggest that the organizers set up a tree lantern show in Expo Park. They should use many plants and install lots of projection lasers. This will create a wonderful dream of exotic plants and light for visitors!

Our goal is to help visitors understand nature better. We want them to enjoy a visual feast with this new approach. We believe that combining science and art in this lantern exhibition can spark interest in natural science.

This is particularly true for children, as they are still forming their perspectives on the world around them. Engaging with nature at a young age can provide valuable lessons that stay with them throughout their lives. Through hands-on experiences, they learn to appreciate the intricacies of ecosystems and the delicate balance of life.

It can also help them understand the importance of protecting the environment, fostering a sense of responsibility towards the natural world. This early education can inspire them to become advocates for conservation and sustainability in their communities and beyond, ensuring a healthier planet for future generations.

Garden lanterns are the choice of the whole world

Famous zoos and botanical gardens worldwide have established annual lantern festivals as regular events. Organizers and lantern artisans use light effects to highlight the natural beauty and animal shapes within their grounds, creating dreamy, magical, or educational experiences. These events often blend art, technology, and cultural elements, becoming significant local highlights.

  • Bronx Zoo, New York, USA: Hosts “Holiday Lights” each winter, featuring immersive light displays, custom animal lanterns, and animated light shows, combined with festive entertainment, food, and holiday trains—highly popular among families.
  • Pairi Daiza Zoo, Belgium: This award-winning zoo invests heavily in lighting design, transforming its grounds into distinct themed “worlds” at night—such as backlit gorilla enclosures and illuminated Khmer architecture in Tiger Temple—though not a traditional lantern festival, its nighttime effects are exceptional.
  • Guangzhou Zoo, China: Once staged a giant 360° immersive educational light show using dome projections and LED screens alongside AR technology, allowing visitors to experience a magical marine world after dark.
  • Tobu Zoo, Japan: Transforms into “Illuminated Flower Fields” in winter, blending zoo and botanical zones with dreamy light installations.

  • Jardin des Plantes, Paris, France: Holds an annual winter light festival featuring majestic light sculptures that turn the park into an open-air museum. The 2024-2025 theme, “Jurassic Illumination,” recreated prehistoric creatures and plant diversity.
  • teamLab Botanical Garden Osaka, Japan: A permanent nighttime outdoor museum by the renowned art collective teamLab, using immaterial digital technology to transform plants into interactive artworks that shift with wind, rain, and human movement.
